Donations & Fundraising

The support of parents and the community is the life blood of our school.

While fundraisers tap into our time, energy and commitment, they are important to help us cover expenses, keep tuition down, and balance the budget. Below are the fundraisers we are currently running. Thank you for your support!

Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten

In October 1948, nine Sisters left Calabria, Italy to begin a new apostolic mission in the United States. They came specifically to Stamford to expand their catechetical work which was namely the formal education and spiritual development of young children.

With God's help, the Sisters eventually established two educational institutions in Stamford - Our Lady of Grace Nursery School and Kindergarten in 1962 and Villa Divino Amore Nursery School in 1989. Both of these facilities have provided a much needed service to the local community that has particularly benefited the children of working parents. For 55 years, almost 6,000 children have been educated in a loving and nurturing environment.

The Sisters and their schools are a 100% self-funded non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. They do not receive any funding from either the diocese or the government. The school charges a very modest tuition and hosts one large fund raiser each year as their primary means of fundraising.

Like every non-profit, Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten needs the philanthropic support of the people who care about their mission. In order to cover operating costs and to be able to continue to offer vibrant programs and updated facilities, the Sisters rely on gifts from the greater Fairfield County community. The generosity of your gift makes a significant difference in the lives of the children and families they serve, and enables the Sisters to fulfill their mission.

Current Project

Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten is a unique and essential institution for the Stamford area community. Most of the children who attend Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten have both parents working full time. This means that many of the children in attendance spend 8-10 hours each day at the school. They can arrive as early as 7:30am and last pick up may not be until 5:00pm.

During the cold Connecticut winters, the Sisters have struggled to find ways to allow the children to have physical play and exercise to build up their motor skills while having to stay indoors. For 50 years the Sisters have dreamed of building a gymnasium in order to allow the children to run, play and engage in all kinds of physical activities. Finally in 2015 their dream became a reality and they began construction of a new gym. For anyone close to the school, you will understand what a vital addition this will be for the children whom the Sisters serve. The Sisters will no longer have to readjust classroom space to give the children room inside the classrooms to run and jump. With the completion of this new building, they will be able  to go right to their new gym and get all the physical activity they need.  Equipped with a stage, this space will also provide the children opportunities for music, drama, and dance.

The Sisters are attempting to self-fund the cost of construction which represents a huge financial cost to their congregation. The Sisters have not increased tuition because they feel it is extremely important to fulfill their promise to the community. For more than half a century, the Sisters have been committed to providing high-quality education and spiritual development at a very modest cost. This is their vocation...not merely a job.

If you would like to make a donation to help the Sisters continue to provide a top level education to the children of our community please click on the below link. The Sisters are deeply grateful for any gift big or small and they are tax-deductible to the fullest extent of the law. If you are considering making a donation and would like to see the project for yourself, please call Sr. Gesuina to set up an appointment where she can take you on a tour of the new gym.

Thank you and God Bless you always!
