Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten
In October 1948, nine Sisters left Calabria, Italy to begin a new apostolic mission in the United States. They came specifically to Stamford to expand their catechetical work which was namely the formal education and spiritual development of young children.
With God's help, the Sisters eventually established two educational institutions in Stamford - Our Lady of Grace Nursery School and Kindergarten in 1962 and Villa Divino Amore Nursery School in 1989. Both of these facilities have provided a much needed service to the local community that has particularly benefited the children of working parents. For 55 years, almost 6,000 children have been educated in a loving and nurturing environment.
The Sisters and their schools are a 100% self-funded non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. They do not receive any funding from either the diocese or the government. The school charges a very modest tuition and hosts one large fund raiser each year as their primary means of fundraising.
Like every non-profit, Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten needs the philanthropic support of the people who care about their mission. In order to cover operating costs and to be able to continue to offer vibrant programs and updated facilities, the Sisters rely on gifts from the greater Fairfield County community. The generosity of your gift makes a significant difference in the lives of the children and families they serve, and enables the Sisters to fulfill their mission.

Revitalizing Our Playground
Revitalizing Our Playground
Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten is a unique and essential part of the Stamford community. For many of our children, Our Lady of Grace is truly a home away from home. Because so many of our families have both parents working full time, children may arrive as early as 7:30 AM and remain with us until 5:00 PM. That means their school day is not only a time for learning, but also a time for growing, playing, praying, building friendships, and experiencing the joy of childhood.
One of the most important places where this growth happens is on the playground.
Outdoor play is essential to the development of young children. It helps them build strength, balance, coordination, confidence, imagination, and social skills. It gives them the freedom to run, climb, explore, laugh, and enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. At Our Lady of Grace, the playground is much more than a place for recess. It is a place where children learn to take turns, encourage one another, solve problems, and experience the simple joy of being together.
After many years of faithful use, our playground is ready to be renewed. Our current project is to update and revitalize this important outdoor space so that it can continue to serve our children safely and beautifully for years to come. This project will help provide a refreshed, engaging, and developmentally appropriate environment where our students can play freely, grow confidently, and enjoy the active childhood they deserve.
For more than 60 years, the Sisters have dedicated themselves to providing high-quality education, loving care, and spiritual formation at a modest cost to families. Their work is not simply a profession. It is their vocation. Every improvement to our campus is made with the same purpose: to better serve the children and families entrusted to their care.
