At Our Lady of Grace Preschool and Kindergarten, we believe education is far more than academics: it is the shaping of the whole person. Since 1962, the Little Workers of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary have devoted themselves to guiding children in a way that blends learning, faith, and love. For more than six decades, families have turned to Our Lady of Grace as one of Stamford’s most beloved Catholic institutions, a place where children are formed in mind, spirit, and heart.
Educating the mind means providing children with the skills and confidence to explore, ask questions, and discover connections. From the very start, our students are immersed in early literacy, numeracy, languages, science, and social studies. They express themselves through art, music, drama, pretend play, storytelling, and creative projects. They develop curiosity and critical thinking, laying the foundation for lifelong learning.
Nurturing the spirit means helping children encounter God in every part of the day. Through prayer, chapel visits, virtues-based lessons, and service experiences, children learn that they are deeply loved and called to reflect that love to others. Spiritual formation is not an “add-on” at Our Lady of Grace, it is the heart of everything we do.
Shaping the heart means teaching kindness, empathy, respect, and compassion. We guide children in how to care for one another, to build friendships, to resolve conflicts peacefully, and to see each moment as an opportunity to live out the Gospel.
From the youngest preschooler to the child preparing for first grade, Our Lady of Grace offers a cohesive, faith-filled pathway of growth and discovery. Each stage builds intentionally on the last, with experienced Sisters and teachers who know every child and walk alongside them as they grow.
Pre-K3: The journey begins with gentle introductions to learning in a joyful, nurturing environment. Children build trust and independence, develop social and emotional confidence, and experience learning through play, music, art, stories, movement, and guided discovery.
Pre-K4: Building on this foundation, Pre-K4 introduces more structure and academic readiness skills while keeping learning joyful and hands-on. Children engage with early reading and writing, phonics and math activities, science exploration, and creative expression through music, art, dramatic play, and cultural activities. Independence, responsibility, and collaboration are encouraged as children prepare for Kindergarten.
Kindergarten (Traditional): Our comprehensive Kindergarten program is a seamless continuation of preschool. Children engage in literacy, writing, math, science, and social studies through integrated, hands-on projects. They develop independence, leadership, and confidence while deepening their spiritual life and love of learning. Upon completion, these students are ready to move on to first grade.
Transitional Kindergarten (Pre-K5): Transitional Kindergarten offers the full Kindergarten curriculum for children who do not meet the Connecticut age cutoff, or who might benefit from another year of early learning. TK students experience the same academic, social, and spiritual formation as Traditional Kindergarten, with the added gift of time to reinforce skills and grow in maturity. After TK, students repeat Kindergarten elsewhere, carrying with them confidence, readiness, and a strong foundation.
At Our Lady of Grace, families often say stepping into our school feels like coming home. The Sisters’ presence fills every classroom with peace, joy, and warmth, qualities that children instinctively recognize. Each child is celebrated as a unique gift of God, cherished and guided in love. Parents find not only an excellent education for their children, but also a community that surrounds the whole family with faith, support, and belonging.
