Kindergarten Pathways at Our Lady of Grace
At Our Lady of Grace, we offer two Kindergarten pathways to meet the needs of every child and family. Both are full Kindergarten programs, filled with faith, joy, discovery, and the complete Kindergarten curriculum. The difference is in the next step your child takes after their year with us.
Traditional Kindergarten
Traditional Kindergarten
For children who meet Connecticut’s age requirement (5 years old on or before September 1).
Children complete our Kindergarten curriculum and move directly to first grade at another school.
Focus: advancing academically, socially, and spiritually to be fully ready for first grade.
Families choose this pathway when their child is age-eligible and ready to advance after one Kindergarten year.
Transitional Kindergarten (Pre-K5)
Transitional Kindergarten (Pre-K5)
For children who fall in the state age gap (not yet 5 by September 1) or would benefit from an extra instructional year of Kindergarten.
Children complete our Kindergarten curriculum and then go on to repeat Kindergarten elsewhere the following year.
Focus: reinforcing and deepening skills with the gift of extra time — building confidence, maturity, and independence.
Families choose this pathway to give their child a “bonus year” of growth, making the next Kindergarten year easier, stronger, and more joyful.
